A small lab with a narrow brief

Solis Lab began as a shared workspace for a handful of people who kept rebuilding the same map viewer for different projects. Rather than start again each time, we decided to make one careful tool and keep it useful for years.

We are independent. There is no parent company behind the name and no product roadmap dictated from elsewhere. That lets us work slowly and say no to features that would make the map harder to trust.

What we value

• Open sources first. Every dataset we show comes with a licence we can point to and a link back to where it originated.
• Legible by default. The whole point is to make complicated surfaces easier to read, so the interface stays plain and predictable.
• Slow on purpose. Features are added when they are finished, not when a date arrives. Early access is small for this reason.
• No lock-in. Your notes and crops leave with you in formats anyone can open.

Where we are

The group is scattered across Europe and works remotely. We meet online, publish our notes in the open, and keep the project small enough that every decision is easy to explain.
